I am a Principal Investigator (PI) of Brain Stimulation in Vision Research, at section Brain Stimulation and Cognition, Department of Cognitive Neuroscience, Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, Maastricht University.
I am primarily interested in how the brain processes visual information. Through a complex sequence of small interactions and mechanisms, at several levels of organisation, our brain finally gives us the wonderful conscious experiences we have all day long. What better way to spend your life than to try to understand that?
I use neuroimaging techniques such as fMRI, MEG, and EEG, to study these mechanisms. I use brain stimulation techniques such as TMS and tACS to modulate these mechanisms.
I want to wholeheartedly thank the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) for supporting me over the years (e.g. Toptalent grant 2008, Veni grant 2013).
